Converting Contacts to Leads [Website Builder] Follow
Path: Leads > Contacts
Converting a Contact into a Lead will allow your Contact to take advantage of all our Lead Functionality, such as: favoriting properties, creating saved searches, and so on. There are two ways to convert Contacts to Leads: from the Contact Detail page or from the All Contacts page.
Converting a Contact to a Lead from the Contact Detail Page
1. Navigate to Leads > Contacts. Click on the name of the Contact to bring you to the Contact Detail Page.
2. On the Contact Detail Page, in the upper right corner, click on "Actions." On the dropdown, select the "Add to Leads" button.
3. The Contact Record will then be converted into a Lead Record and will then be assigned to the Agent who was associated with the Contact.
Converting a Contact to a Lead from the Contacts Page
Contacts can also be converted into Leads from the Contacts Page.
- Navigate to Leads > Contacts.
- Select the Contact(s) you would like to convert into a Lead by checking the checkbox on the left-hand side of the row containing the Contact(s).
- Once you have selected one or more Contacts, a new drop-down menu will appear at the top of the table.
- Select "Convert to Leads"
- After you make this selection, you will be given some additional options: Send Welcome Email and Remove From Contacts. The choices you make here will apply to all Contacts that you are currently converting to Leads.
- Send Welcome Email: Enabling this by checking the box will automatically send the standard Welcome Email to each Contact that is being converted into a Lead. This email provides the login information as well as a password for the user so they can easily log into the site themselves.
- Remove From Contacts: Enabling this will automatically delete the Contact record while creating a new Lead Record. We strongly recommend leaving this setting on to avoid multiple records for users in your database. If you choose to disable this, then converting a Contact to a Lead will not remove the Contact record from your CRM; it will only create a new Lead record.
- Send Welcome Email: Enabling this by checking the box will automatically send the standard Welcome Email to each Contact that is being converted into a Lead. This email provides the login information as well as a password for the user so they can easily log into the site themselves.
- Click Update. Your Contacts have been converted into Leads and can now be found under My Leads.
Important Notes
- Contacts can only be converted to Leads by the Contact Owner, even if it's a shared Contact.
- If the Contact was associated with an Admin user, the Lead will be placed in the Unassigned queue. This is because Admins do not have Lead Management seats cannot own leads
