Layouts v. Email Content v. Campaigns - What They Are and How to Use Them [Website Builder] Follow
Building an email or campaign within the marketing center consists of 3 key pieces: the layout, the email content, and the email/campaign itself.
1. The layout is the skeleton of the email, where you can add in components such as text blocks, image placeholder, buttons, etc. to create the style and structure of your email. These are an admin/broker only tool. (Please note that agents have a broker role on their agent websites).
2. Add in email content to fill in the rest of the email with the actual text and images that will be sent out in the email. This is essentially creating a ready-made email that can be re-used and sent out at any time.
You can create email content by building on top of an existing layout (ie. filling in the text of a placeholder text block or uploading an image to a picture placeholder) or creating an email content from scratch using a WYSiWYG editor.
3. Build a campaign or single email by creating new email content using an existing layout or selecting from an existing email content that is ready to go.
When should I use one v. the other?
Layouts are useful for brokers or admins who want to create a basic email guide with prompts that agents can fill in to create and personalize their email.
Email Content comes in handy if you have certain types of emails that you regularly need to send out (for example, Welcome or Happy Birthday) and can be used as a ready-to-go template that you can edit a few details (ie. name, date, etc.) before sending out.
In a campaign, it's not possible to create an email from scratch, so your options are to create layouts to build on top of, or create email content to select from and make minor edits to in the campaign/email creation flow.
